Nope. Whenever I do that I end up making myself feel worse.

Hmm, good question, I like my modest life, it is better than some but worse than others.........compare??? maybe when I am feeling sorry for myself I have, but usually in the way where I say: oh, if I had only made this choice or that choice, maybe I would have a better career now, or a nicer husband with money and I could be travelling every year........
I am happy and proud of what I have, like I said it's more than a lot of single moms have but by no means rich. More or less, I mind my business in that respect.

I do. I used to be a wreck psychologically (and physically) and had to go through two years of day treatment. I learned Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which is learning a set of skills for dealing with life. In the "Distress Tolerance" module there is a skill called "distract". One of the sub-skills in it is "comparisons": "Compare yourself to people coping the same as you or less well than you. Compare yourself to those less fortunate than you. Watch soap operas; read about disasters, others' suffering." But it isn't the only way I can make myself happy.

No. I don't do that. I was living in pure hell a couple of years ago, so I am thankful for the life I have now. I feel sorry for people all the time.

I never do it that way round, I always feel worse if I compare myself to other people's lives.

nope, I'll get upset on small things, so I dont compare. but no matter how screwed it is, I'll still find something happy about my life.

No, I do not. I make it a habit not to compare people to one another. I think that is one reason I was so successful in my career.

I become more appreciative of what I have and who I am when comparing to those with less than me. They'll always be people with more than me.
