What do you do when everything you've worked for is going wrong?
I am currently in a school a junior in college and manage to maintain my gpa up to a 3.23 (although I could have done better but I've been dealing with depression which affected my performance tremendoulsy). However this semester things haven't been going as well as i've hoped. I am not doing good in any of my classes (except one in which I think I may get a B+). There is one class I know I am definitely failing. Nothing I do works, and I have never had to work so hard to get Failing grade in return. It is really depressing me, my ambition and motivation just went down the drain. I want to quit because I don't see the point in me going to school if that's all I can give. Usually I would say that I would never quit but at this point i have no hope. It's already the end of the semester and the time to drop the class has already passed. I don't know what to do. I am crying hysterically right now because I feel like an idiot with no brain.

I feared I was not going to make a good architect at one point because I was considered to be one of the worst students. At some level, I believed that I could deliver good service in the real world versus the establishment of the university. I persisted, and when I entered the working world I was astonished at how pervasively the needs of the client were being neglected by much more prestigious graduates than myself. Consequently, a prosperous career in architecture has been my reward. Look beyond school.....if doing so will help you get through it and into a better situation in the the professional world.

Sounds like it's been tough, but you aren't an idiot you've gotten this far so don't give up, every once and a while everyone has their down time when nothing goes right but it will pass, maybe you should see a counselor at the school and tell them what's going on, sometimes they can be so helpful, maybe a teacher that you really like can help you, just talk to someone so they understand what is going on with you, it would lift a big weight off your shoulders if you told someone like a teacher that way they are giving you the attention you need right now. Best of luck I hope this helps.

You have a brain. That fact is apparent just from your question. You're bright and capable -- that's just a gimme, okay?

One thing stands out: there's something that your very bright and capable mind is trying to tell you that you aren't hearing right now, hence the conflict. Are you studying for a degree in something that you don't believe in? Are you preparing for a career in a field that you don't REALLY have any interest in? Is there something else in you that's crying out for attention, and not getting it?

You are so young... I know it's almost impossible to see right now, from your perspective, but trust me -- YOU HAVE TIME. Cut yourself some slack. Take a deep breath. Take a good look around. Try to put this into perspective, as if you were the middle-aged "you", looking back in time at you now. What would you say to your young self?

Believe it or not, there are very few mistakes in the life that are actually irreparable, so RELAX.

I almost failed a class in C++ programming. Do you know what I learned as a result? Don't become a C++ programmer! Just focus on what you want to do - find a passion in life and pursue it. Also get social assistance from your friends, family, school counselor, psychologist, etc.
