I think that, in this case, the touching me, touching you thing means what he would want to do with her if he fell in love with her as a mature young lady of perhaps 21.
So no, I doubt Neil Diamond is a perv. I doubt this was even an issue in the 70's.

I looked it up and he did write it after seeing Caroline Kennedy's picture while she was riding....I do NOT think Neil Diamond is a pervert...just a very good song writer who knows how to use words in a song.

I think it's disturbing that children are casting aspersions at a time in which they probably weren't even alive! Does "judge not, lest ye be judged" mean anything? There is FAR more here than it appears. It is not a personal thing with Mr. Diamond. He was using a pictorial slice of Camelot for an inspiration, period. Find new crosses to burn, metaphorically speaking.
