mine said he thought it might be a girl and Ithink he was more sure than he let on, he just didn't want to be held accountable if he was wrong.

i got checked at 5 months and the doctor told me it was a boy possibly. I transferred doctors and two doctors (one of them is the top rated doctor in the east coast!) told me it was a girl at 36 weeks. WELL now I am 40 weeks and had another ultrasound to check the baby's position and was told that it was 100% boy by an ultrasound tech! So talk about confusing!! We are prepared for a boy so hopefully thats what it will turn out to be! Good luck though! It just goes to show that the only 100% sure way to tell is when it is born!!

I'm 25 weeks and had my 2nd ultrasound last week. During the first one, the baby laid on it's belly with its legs tucked under and it's butt pushed right up against me. Didn't move the entire time. Last week, it was doing the same thing. The ultrasound tech got it to move a little bit and got a shot of what appeared to be a labia, but said that at this age, the labia and scrotum can look alike. She was hoping for a view of the frontal area, but wasn't able to get one. So she said she was 80% sure it's a girl, but since it wouldn't open it's legs, there is always a small chance there was more to see.

It's pretty common to not know on the first ultrasound, escpecially because your provider is concerned with the development of your child, and won't really "waste" time looking for gender once all the measurements are taken! If he does a repeat ultrasound, your chances of finding out the sex will depend entirely on how cooperative your baby is, and how long the Dr. is willing to spend looking for an open legged shot. Some women never find out for sure... and that's okay too!
But yeah... it's common, and it's times like this you have to remind yourself to be excited that your baby appears healthy! Some women have their first ultrasound and find out that there is something physically wrong, or even terminally wrong. So Congrats on making a healthy baby! This may just be a kid who likes surprises!

I'm 27 weeks and I only recently found out that I was having a boy. But I was told at 18 weeks that I was having a girl with my first pregnancy. It just depends on the positioning of your baby.

Why don't you know? Could you not see in the ultrasound? That happend to me with my second baby. She had her legs crossed when I had my ultrasound so they had me go home and come back an hour later to try again. She finally gave us a peek then. If you are getting another ultrasound try to make sure your baby is awake and active at the time. Drink lots of water and have a full bladder. Lay in different positions before going to the doc or do whatever gets your baby kicking. Good luck. I know it drives you nuts not knowing!

With my daughter, at 20 weeks, she wouldn't show us anything and the tech tried and tried for an extra 15 minutes. At 28 weeks, we found out she was a girl. I should hopefully find out today if I'm having a boy or a girl. 19 weeks pregnant

The further along you are, the harder it's going to be for you to find out the sex of your baby...they grow and get more and more cramped every single day.
Why not just wait another 13 weeks and get surprised?
A friend of mine at work just went out on maternity leave, and they tried every 2 weeks to find out the sex of the baby...from 18 weeks to now, and never could because the baby's legs were closed and all cramped up.

Next time your at the midwife, just ask her if its not too late to find this out, I had three scans and I live in cheshire uk. Just make sure this is what you really want because we decided not to find out on my 1st pregnancy and it was a surprise when we had our daughter, but when we had our 2nd, we found that I was having a baby boy, it was'nt as exciting just easier when shopping and choosing names.
