just try the 12
then get a 1/2 size bigger than the one that fits so you can wear thick socks

Everyone will try to get you to buy boots that are 1/2 to 1 size smaller because they will "pack out". This means that the liner foam will pack and the boot will get bigger. I did this and have a pair of boots 1/2 size too small that I will never be able to wear.

I suggest that you try on boots (I don't recommend internet for boots) with a thin ski sock and find one that is just snug - one you can walk around in with it laced up tight for an hour without your foot falling asleep.

Then as you ride in your boots and they get a little bit looser, start wearing a good snowboard / hiking sock which is a little thicker. In my experience, boots only pack out 1/4 to 1/2 size and you can adjust for that with socks.

Good Luck

I always go up a 1/2 size. I tried getting my shoe size and ended up with boots that were way too tight. They shouldn't be too tight when you try then on with a thin sock. Then when they pack out a bit (trust me, it won't pack out as much as everyone says), you can wear a thicker sock. I know that DC boots tell you to go up 1/2 a size from your shoe size, and that is definitely true. I've had a pair, and so has my niece.
