some brands are, but other brands come directly from a purified spring. Some bottled water companies put salt in their water to make people more thirsty

No, not necessarily. NRDC conducted a four-year review of the bottled water industry and the safety standards that govern it, including a comparison of national bottled water rules with national tap water rules, and independent testing of over 1,000 bottles of water. Our conclusion is that there is no assurance that just because water comes out of a bottle it is any cleaner or safer than water from the tap. And in fact, an estimated 25 percent or more of bottled water is really just tap water in a bottle -- sometimes further treated, sometimes not.

Some are from tap water (not all brands), but it's not like they run a faucet and fill a bottle. They go through extensive filtering processes to clean and purify that water. So, although it's from tap water, it still does not contain all the same things as tap water does.

I worked for bottling company last summer... It is highly filtered tap water. Spring water however comes from a natural spring so if you think tap water is something awful then drink that.

While many of the brands of bottled water do come from a municipal water supply, they are put through n extensive filtration process.
there is a new ruling on the books that will require bottled water to label their source of water on the label.
however this has not come into effect as of yet, so you will probably not find it on the labels right now,

Some is.
Some isn't.
However, consider this: If you know that YOUR tap water sucks, it might be worth it.
Usually, however, it isn't. A very simple filter on most people's tap water is BETTER than what comes in most bottled water.

No but it's worse for you than tap water - for lack of a better term. Through their "cleansing" period they take out all the flouride which is naturally in water and helps your teeth.
