Maths is primarily a British abbreviation of mathematics. We don't say mathematic, so maybe maths would actually make more sense!?!

Oh well, we Americans think we are the only ones that speak English now, don't we?

P.S. I like mathematics a lot!

I love math. Here in the US, we call it math. In British schools, it is often referred to as maths. I think it is because it is short for mathematics (which as a noun always has the s on the end).

Why does everybody these days refer to the subject of math in the plural? When I went to school is was math not maths, and I like ti very much.

Me too. But people's minds wor differently which is a good thing because otherwise there would be no progression!
