I need the name of some sort of jacket that goes well with or is usually worn with a trilby hat. Basically, I always wanted a trilby because I'm into that sort of theatrical costume stuff. But when I finally spotted one in a shop window and bought it, my mum saw me wearing it in town (I should probably point out I'm 14) and thought it looked so awful that I am now forbidden to wear it. So I need the name of some sort of jacket (preferably from the same time period) that goes well with it so I can buy it and prove her wrong!

It's a great hat! Your mum should be grateful you're coming home with just eccentric clothing, not piercings or kool-aid colored hair
A Trilby looks good with a tweed sport-coat or jacket, especially if you can find one with the little half-belt in the back, and/or suede elbow-patches.
Hang onto your sense of style, hon! You won't be 14 forever, and in a few years you'll be able to wear whatever you like.

Shame on your mum! Wear it, and anything else you like. You're right - there's nothing wrong with being a little eccentric -it's fun, and lets you be YOU!!
Maybe try a deconstructed jacket/sportcoat over your fav t-shirt & jeans.

I love trilbys, I have a few myself! I wear it with most things. T-shirts, blazers. I also have a tweed jacket I wear it with
