most GOOD doctors will not let you have a c-section just because you want one, especially if it is your first child. it is major surgery and there can be alot of complications. c-sections are for emergency only!

It is known as elective c-section. You do have to find a doctor willing to do it, but it should not be as much of a problem as many may suggest. Of course this will depend on where you live and the abundance of doctors in your area. You could simply say that the notion of vaginal delivery gives you panic and anxiety attacks and you refuse to deliver vaginally. A doctor can not deny you care and can not force his opinion on you. If you do your research and you know this is what you want, just be adamant and if a doctor refuses simply change doctors. It is not a in a doctors place to tell you how to deliver.

Look at various celebraties, Gwen Stefani for example had a scheduled c-section simply out of convinience and a lot of other celebraties do the same.

You will have to check with your doctor and insurance company, but if you go the anxiety/panic route insurance companies can not say it was not medically necessary.

You need to check with your insurance...bt its not all about you...it is good for babies to go through contractions. You will have a way harder recovery after a c-section...so if you are high maintenance then its not for you...re-think your decision. You can't just request a c-section without a valid problem.

You can request a c-section, but vaginal delivery is safer, easier to recover from and surprisingly less painful AFTER birth than a c-section. Talk to your doctor about the whole story of c-section vs. vaginal birth.

If you are being anal and just trying to "schedule" your baby's birth, your doc may not order a c-section to fit your timetable, but docs can be anal too and want you to deliver on their schedule as well.

Just get all the facts before you make a decision. My sis had a vaginal birth with her first daughter and c-section with her twins. She preferred vaginal birth. it was faster and she said she had trouble feeding the twins because they would rest on her c-section wound.

it is possible and many people shedule this instead of regular labor. Even doctors prefer doing c-sections because its easier and quicker for them. However what people don't understand is how painful and scarring it is. My sister went through 6 of them and each time its more dangerous. You must wait 2-3 years after the operation before becoming pregnant again. The first operation is not that painful but after that it is the worst pain-my sister is out of it for days and in terrible pain. so make your decision. Women have given birth and naturally for thousands of years and lived to tell the tale. Anyway good luck:)

If you request it, your insurance won't pay. If it's medically necessary, then the insurance will pay. However, if you are high-maintenance and very stressed a c-section will make things worse, not better for you and your recovery.

I have had both and I would much rather have BROKEN MY TAILBONE giving birth AGAIN then to have been cut open and had my baby pulled out. The c-section recovery was terrible. I NEVER would have chose to have my baby cut out through layers of skin, muscle and fat unless he was in danger of dying!
Plus, none tels you about things like adhesions, which means that my muscles healed in such a way that every time I get cramps, it feels like my abdomen is being pulled apart layer by layer...

a c-section is abdominal surgery; you'd be much better off having a vaginal birth (just get the epidural & you'll be fine); it will hurt less & you'll be up & about & feeling great pretty soon after.

most docs' are going to tell you NOO WAY...but I know several people whose doc's were like OK! SO u just have to go to somone via word of mouth, or cross your fingers with your current doc.
