My baby boy is a truly happy and energetic baby......... Always playing, trying to grab things and cuddling........ That is when he is being held, not neccesarily be me, but by anone. It seems like he wants a pair of legs to get around. I've bought him playmats and I get down on the floor with him, but no sirey. He wants to be high and on the same level as us.... the older ones :) He is a little strong willed so letting him cry it out and entertain himself is not an option. If he's entertained, in the stroller, the car seat (you know - on the go.......) he's fine, but I can't even put him down on the floor to watch tv. He tries standing up using whatever he can find (the bedskirt, furniture, my pants :) ) - but he's hit himself pretty bad like that... I've caught him crawling a few times so I know he can do it. But if I'm watching he will sit pretty with his hands up waiting for me to get him, no matter how long he has to wait. Any suggestions on how 2 help him b more indep Thx!

Hopefully he will start walking soon (mine walked at 9 months) that will help a lot.

Until then use a high chair or backpack carrier (or whatever) so he can watch you while you cook etc. Try to let him "help" you wash windows (just water or water and vinegar) and "help" sort laundry. Also try a jolly jumper (jumperoo?)

My son was like this and once he could walk he didn't really look back -then again he has his clingy days.

Some babies dont like to feel seperated or immobile.

I have a boppy chair and use it on the kitchen counter, the foot stools, etc, and then she's at my level. Works great when cooking or doing dishes.

Also, have you tire dputting him in his high chair with some toys? They make these "stroller bars" made to attach to your stroller, with toys...and I took it and put it on th ehigh chair, and she can sit and play and still be "tall".

Being on the floor is good for him, to learn to crawl and such, so whenver possible, put him down and lay with him and play.

This sounds pretty normal to me. Give him another couple of months and he'll be asking to get down so he can get into everything in sight! If you're trying to get other things done, try carrying him in a sling so you have your hands free.

put toys down with him that will catch his attention and keep it... bright toys with noises usually work best. Im a mom of 3.
