Wrap the box with gift wrap the best you can. Then get that really pretty decorative ribbon (available even at walmart) and put the ribbon around the box 1 time vertically. Then one time horizontally. Then put a stick-on bow. It will look beautiful and no one will see the possibly messed up wrapping.
For hard to wrap items, put them in a gift bag. Then, take some tissue sheets and make each individual sheet like a cone by pulling the sheet from the middle. Place each tissue cone in the bag (narrow side in bag). About 6 tissues per medium sized bag will make it look like it's flowing with tissue.

well sometimes I have the same problem. I usally have someone do it at your local (if they have a wraping center) if you only have a few presents. If you have alot I sometimes have my dad help me He'll cut and wrap while I put the name tags and fold the clothing neatly into the boxes sorta like a trade off. Well another suggestion is to go to google and type in how do I wrap a present. And as you know the site is great for giving out tips and loads of websites. Happy holidays!

For the kids...I always wrap in something fun, like the Sunday comics or I do a candy theme
I wrap the box in a solid colored paper (or brown bag type paper) then I use candy buttons on strips as the ribbon, red rope lace as a bow and a lollipop as an ornament in the center. The kids love this

When I want elegant I wrap in all solid purple with royal blue or white ribbon. Or some heavy duty all-white paper with purple or royal blue ribbon. I also like to go to craft store and purchase little gold leaves or other Christmas trinkets and attatch to the top with ribbon. Also -- put gold or silver letters (at craft store) spelling out the recipients name on top of solid wrapping. Buy lightweight solid colored tea towels and wrap with those -- then attatch real holly or pine cones. The ideas are actually endless. Just stay away from anything cutesy. Elegance is always simple.

brown paper can be really pretty. just wrap it up like normal but tie a big gold bow on it or something like that. you could get an old scarf and wrap that around something like a gift basket would be wrapped, as well.

Make clean folds at the edges of your paper so you don't see the jagged edges from where you cut. You can buy small cheap ornaments and tie them in with the ribbon to make it look more "professional". Use double sided tape so you don't have ugly tape lines.
