I would call the local "women's helper" group, and see if they have any recommendations for a good criminal lawyer with a specialty in assaults.

Best wishes.

Criminal lawyers that work for the local District Attorney's office handle the charges against the rapist. Many states also have victim advocates whose job is to help the victim understand the legal process and get aid that she may be entitled to, like counseling. Finally, any woman can hire any attorney of her choosing to file a civil suit against the rapist for damages. The only rub there is the rapist must have money or something of value that the victim could go after. If the rapist is some street thug, there's really no point in filing a civil suit. But if the rapist is someone like Andrew Luster, the heir to Max Factor who raped and tortured all those women, a civil suit is a VERY good idea.

In countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia etc the victim of a crime such as rape does not usually need to have a lawyer of any type.

That "might" change if she was raped while doing something illegal, or if the State decides that the allegation of rape is falsified and considers charging her with filing a false report, in which cases she'll need a criminal defense lawyer.

If I understand the question...What Kind of Lawyer is FOR women who've been raped...my answer is:

ANY lawyer who prosecutes a rapist is a GOOD lawyer!

If you asked what kind of lawyer is for the rapist...I'd say a lawyer who is there to insure his client gets a fair trial.

I don't care that the lawyer has a rapist for a client...but our constitution allows for a fair trial!

A lawyer who shows compassion and works to find the truth, and justice for the victim. The questions may be intruding, and harsh, but in the end they will work to the end of their limits to see justice done for their victim
