identifying autographs.?

does any body have any idea on how to identify an autograph without sending it away, you know, do it your self

First, you can't listen to the people here telling you to e-mail it or let a sports dealer look at it. Honestly, you will never know if it's real or not.

Here's some tips though.

Fake if - #1) Signature has shakeyness to signature. When someone tries to copy it slow by is nervous in the hand.
#2) Signature looks DARK, means it was written over and over again to either correct mistakes or copy the signature.

Real #1) Look at upper Deck signature cards because stars are forced by contract to sign these. Real signature and compare to rest.

Just remember, I've seen people sign realer looking ones then the stars. So you will never know. Be careful of New York and especially L.A. dealers. Too many fakes in these areas I've seen.

You would have to look at they handing to see if iti s a real one, or a fake one, meaning if someboy else pretended to be a player, or like that, and signed a players' name or if it was realyl that player that signed it. But if you weren't there at the time it was signed, you don't know for sure. There was an Everybody Loves Raymond episode, where Ray had a ball signed, that was supposly signed by Mickey Mantle, until he found out that it was a fake.

Take it into a sports collectable and they can compare and tell you. I collect baseball autograph every year and Every autograph I get, I take a picture showing that I got that autograph from that person. ..
