women could give up their babies for adoption easier? I've known girls who wanted to give up their babies for adoption but their families were hell bent on keeping the baby. May be thats why some choose to get an abortion and not tell anyone because their families might disown them if they carry the baby to term and put him/her up for adoption. People should respect the mother's decision.

absolutely not..
the woman would be emotionally unstable to carry a child that she didn't plan on having( unless it was her fault to begin with)
rape and incest victims should get that choice, but unfortunately not many girls have that option.her financial position could play a role...

maybe if there were less rape, no disgusting perverted people, and less careless teens, plus more sympathy for those who have problems, then there's be less abortions...

that's be a while before that happens

No, I don't think there would be less abortions if adoption was easier. There is more to it then that, it's about being pregnant and all that goes with it, that women are trying to avoid, not just who will be able to care for the child once it is born. Abortion/ terminating a pregnancy has been part of the human culture, regardless of location, or time, if it is taboo or not, its here and it will never go away. You're right people SHOULD respect the mother's decision, to be one or not.

There are many reasons women have abortions. Some do not want to go through 9 months of being pregnant and the disruption that causes in their lives. Some just don't want to tell any one. Others have health reasons. People should respect the mother's decision regardless of what she decides - single motherhood, abortion, adoption, marrying someone she doesn't love to give the child a father - whatever she decides. Making adoption easier would probably not decrease the number of abortions.

Yes I think the mother's decision should be respected...after all it is HER and the FATHER's baby and should do what they feel is in the baby's best interest. Esp if they know they won;t be able to feed and provide for their child they can at least give it a better shot at life with another family.

Misread the question: I don;t think there would be less abortions, I would have to see some kind of statistic for that.

personally I think it is wrong both ways....i say if you were responsible enough to lay down in the bed (and this is for men and women) then you need to be responsible for the consequences that can happen....and why respect only the mothers decision? what about the fathers too? sometimes one wants it and not the other but because the woman has to carry it does it solely make it hers? i think no but thats the case in todays world right now so if the father does not want it and the mother does then shouldn't it be the mothers responsibility or should the man have to pay even though he was given no choice in the matter? this is one of those questions where there is no right answer and the opinions will get the blood going fast in someones mind.....talk to your congressman

It is without question that it is difficult on the mother to give the baby up for adoption. It is also difficult on families. What is society supposed to do to accomplish your idea though. We can't barge into peoples houses and put a muzzle on them. Its Family!!! Adoption is hard, Parenting is hard, and abortion is irreversible with so many unforeseen ramifications. Best choice, don't play if you don't want to pay, because whatever path you choose, it is painful.

unfortunately, people do not realize that the human heart starts to beat 72 hours after conception. They treat pregnancy like a bad thing and want to throw out the trash.
Thank-you for asking about adoption. I was adopted and I feel if things were a bit less expensive for families to adopt and less traumatic for the mothers then yes, along with education, there would be less abortions.

Not really becaue I think a lot of women (particularly younger ones) who get an abortion want to get out of the "mess" as quickly as they can and so they see carrying the baby to full term as a lot of unnecessary pain and discomfort.
I'm just speculating though, and it's a very interesting question. Overall I think it's important that both options are available and that women are allowed to choose what's best for themselves.

people only have abortions because of income. If this world didn't revolve around money, there wouldn't be such thing as abortion. If every young girl had millions in her bank account do you think there would be any other reasons for having an abortion. It's the life of poverty everyone is soo scared of, worried they won't be able to raise the baby because they are scared they don't have a job, and are fixing to head down a dead end street. IT ALL COMES DOWN TO MONEY. MONEY FOR FOOD, BABYSITTER, CAR, FAMILY AND STILL BE ABLE TO GO OUT WITH YOUR FAMILY. WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU NEED.

See, that's exactly why abortion is legal...and why a woman who does not want to give birth has every right to make that choice.

No one can force a woman to give birth.

What would cut down on the abortion rate is birth control...... Women need to stop having unprotected sex and refuse to open her legs to any male who is not wearing a condom.

And males should take the responsibility by wearing one.

It takes 2 to tango.
