My husband and I have a rule : Only loan what you can easily afford to lose. It doesn't matter how trust worthy your friend is. So saying that, if you don't mind losing your life's savings without getting even a little bit upset then by all means loan away. But do you get upset when someone doesn't pay you back a lesser amount? Would you forgive someone if they never gave back your watch or car, what about something larger? It's all about how much your willing to GIVE AWAY.

Are you serious? Because you should never loan a "friend" money. That is the quickest way to lose a friendship and you will probably never get any of your life savings back. Don't you watch Judge Judy?

Because he may not pay it back and it Will cause resentment ruining your friendship

Don't do it make him get a loan from the bank if he needs the money

If he cant get the money from the bank because he has risky credit then shouldn't that tell you that he wont pay it back

My rule of thumb is that I don't loan money that I can't afford to lose. Can you afford to lose your life savings?
