They keep selling. The wii is just that popular. I do know they held back some for Black Friday last week at various stores. The problem for retailers is they might get, say, 100 in Southern California, but they have 30 stores so it goes out at three a store. Wii is outselling the PS3 and Xbox whatever combined. No one expected it to be this big a hit. We had company for T'giving and had to drag them away to eat dinner. I got luckey, my daughter wondered into a Walmart and called me and said they had three. I said, get one. She did. A couple of weeks later, I saw two in a Target.

It's quite simple really: they are meeting the demand...the demand of their shareholders. Let's face it, Nintendo, like any publicly traded company answers to their shareholders. Given that Nintendo has already stated they have met their target numbers there is little incentive to ship more units or increase production in their supply chain. By not doing so they keep demand up, which keeps price up, subsequently increasing profits longterm. The only negative would be that by increasing units shipped now they could potentially increase a user install base for their hardware. However, given the market trends for Wii demand, there is no indication that not doing so will hurt future install base.
In short, it's a business model that is working and will continue to work for their financial statements.

Well, this could be because of 2 reasons.
1) Everyone LOVES the Wii. Even me.
2) Nintendo just isn't making enough for everyone to buy.
Of course, you don't know how many people have asked where to buy a Wii.

It is likely a legitimate supply chain problem.
It is not to keep prices high. Most manufacturers lose money on the consoles but make money on games and accessories. Trust me, Nintendo wants a Wii in your home so they can sell you the stuff they do make money on.

Because if the manufacturers keep the number of them down, there will be a high demand so they can up the prices. its a buisness plan =[

They do make enough but the stores just dont stock them all out. They will put out 2 or so a day because they just want to get you in their store with hopes you will see something else that you want. Yes, it's stupid but it's just how it is.
