The entire purpose of the BCS is to pick a national champion and I think this year there is no controversy what so ever.

Mizzou and WVU are currently the top 2 teams in the country each with one loss to a RANKED team. They both have almost identical strength of schedule. (According to all 6 computer polls)

Next comes OSU with 1 loss to a ranked team and a MUCH weaker strength of schedule. And Kansas with even a WORSE schedule.

You got an undefeated Hawaii with the WORST schedule in the NCAA, and hey the deserve a BCS game, but not even the Hawaii players and coaches think the deserve the NC game.

Every other team has choked TWICE.

So I don't see why everyone is complaining, the AP, the Coaches, the Computers all Universally agree who is #1 and who is #2, seems the only people who disagree is fans who want their own team to be in it when they don't deserve it.

Lucky? There is no such thing as luck in college football, OU, LSU, Kansas, all had a chance to prove themselves and CHOKED to unranked teams.

WVU stepped up and demomlished the #20 team in the country PROVING they could handle the pressure.

Very well said.

The BCS is not without controversy, but it's doing its job of comparing everyone on a semi-level playing field.

I'd still like to see playoffs just like every other sport. Each division's champion should advance to more playoff games. We could have games going on until the end of January! :)

...Z-O-U!

KP: I think Mizzou has a good chance of beating Oklahoma. This time they're meeting on a neutral field and the Tigers made a couple mistakes and pretty much beat themselves in Norman. Absent of those mistakes, I'd say Mizzou has a pretty good shot at getting to the national championship to face either WVU or Ohio State (depending on the outcome of the WVU game).

Look endive, Kansas State was ranked for a week too, so WVU beating #20 doesn't mean crap. If the Mountaineers don't get to the NC, I'll be surprised. Even K State could beat Pitt. The 2 most complete and talented teams in the country are 2 loss teams and because of that, won't get a chance to kick WVU or Ohio State's butts ( the 2 teams with the WEAKEST schedules and most wins) IF Ohio State actually crawls into the NC game may you & your Mountaineers enjoy a year of bragging rights, because thats all you'll get. If Mizzou gets by the powerful Sooners this time, the Tigers are gonna eat you guys ALIVE!

No way to say 100% without a doubt who is the best team at the end of the year without a playoff. Who is to say that hawaii cant beat wvu usc lsu etc. and dont give me that there schedule is weak cuz OSU's is just as bad and there still in the hunt with one lose. To be a champion you have to beat the best not just beat ok teams then beat a good team at the end with a bunch of other teams that have a great chance at beating u but will never get a chance cuz we let computers do that talking not the actual playing games. .

First off, UConn was the worst team in the history of college sports to be ranked, so I would not use that as a point of reference. WVU might be for real. If they can keep a lid on the chronic fumbling that plagues them in big games they will have a real chance. It is hard to say that Mizzou deserves to be number one when they are underdogs going into this weekend.

Excellent points, but I still believe there should be a true playoff. I hate assuming that WVU is the best. I want our guys to prove it by sticking it to LSU or Oklahoma or OSU or anyone...not saying they will, but I believe they could, IF they play to their potential. But as some have said...the season is not over and we MUST NOT look over Pitt. This is a huge game and I hope our boys come out focused. If they do, no one will beat us.

Let's GOOOOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!

For this week I guess. NOBODY has proven that they are the undisputed #1 team in the country for the full season. It just so happens that this week, those are the teams on top. If the season were extended, there would probably be two different teams at the top.
It's kind of like "last team who gets the ball is going to win".

it sucks for teams that are in the big 12, sec, acc, etc. They have to play that extra championship game just to be in a bcs compared to the pac 10, big east, big 10...that is unfair for missouri who played a great game against kansas but its for thing if they lose to OU. Then ohio state will play for the NC if that happens and thats "not fair"!

after this weekend you wont be asking the same question cause Mizzou wont beat Oklahoma.

then OSU who hasnt beaten anyone good is next followed by Kansas who hasnt beaten anyone and didnt even play in their conference title game which that is followed by a Georgia team who is in the same boat as Kansas.

how can you sit there and say that it worked this year.

They deserve it at this point. There is still another game to play and since this season is the wildest in history, anything can happen. The teams who really want it really have to preform well.

the rank of BCS poll this week is very accurate. Next week may change when Oklahoma beats Mizzou.
