If they get money from advertising, do they also get money from their shows? How??

More people watch shows, makes them more attractive to advertisers, therefore they can charge more money per slot. Example: think how much commercials cost during the super bowl? Thats because companies know ads will be watched by millions of people. Then think about the infomercials on at 2am because they are cheap and no one watches them.

the more people that watch the show the high they can charge for air time.

ie every one wacthes the super bowl hence its a million dollars a min of air time.
