basically yeah ... the 2 512s' will run alittle faster tho ... make sure u have 2 slots available if u use the 512s' ...

Without seeing a more detailed description of the first chip it sounds like they are not identical. What I can't tell is if the first chip is really a pair of chips or a single 1GB chip. The second description is definitely a pair of 512MB chips that add up to 1GB. If you only plan to install 1GB of memory in two slots, then either solution works. If you think you'll upgrade to 2GB of memory, you need 2 x 1GB chips (most laptops tend to have two slots so think carefully about the total memory you want as an upgrade to 2GB will mean replacing the 2x512MB chips).
