see, there are many people who think that homosexuality is something that people chose and are completely appalled by it. I don't like those people.. and to them, I say this.
Homosexuality is not an abomination. I am a firm believer that Gay's and Lesbians were born that way. Why would someone chose to be so different? I am not gay, but some of my best friends are. They would give anything to be like other people and be normal. They did not chose to be this way I can assure you. What they do with each other in a sexual manner can be concieved differently. I personally don't have a problem with it. It is their choice and if that is what makes them both happy and they do not drag other people into it, then I see no problem with it. Other people cannot even fathom any justification in two men together and those are the people most commonly known as homophobic in our society.
Gay people might be frowned upon, but so are people who are racist and judge people on the conditions that they were born with.
And tell me this, If God is errorless, how come there are Gays?
I think that God placed homosexuals on earth to teach us acceptance and equality. Noone is getting the point though.
Do you honestly think that a homosexual with a choice would CHOSE to be so different? Do you think that my 13 year old nephew would have cried every night and wrote a 12 page suicide letter if he coulod have just CHANGED his sexuality?
Let me ask you this, can you CHANGE your sexuality? Right now. Try it. Can you CHOSE to be gay right now? I didn't think so. And why not? Because you were born that way.
Do you think that God put homosexuals on this earth so that you all could have someone to abuse?
NO!
so yes. to each his (or her) own. If they were born with it, they might as well roll with it rather than try to conform and be completely unhappy.

The argument: "To each his own" fails miserably.
I could say 1 + 1 =17 but that doesn't make it a fact.
Now as for the topic, I know and believe that being GLBT is not a choice. My opinion is based on many many studies that have been conducted to show that it is most likely inborn. I also believe the accepted medical institutions which also believe that it is also inborn.
I would rather believe studies that show the same result then a bunch of people dressed in robes saying that you have to believe what they say because of a book that is not backed up by evidence.

Some people are so lame. You ARE born straight, bi or gay. They have done studies and it is proven to be a chemical imbalance. When a woman is pregnant with a child, just because they form a vagina/penis doesn't mean they will automatically like the same sex. If a baby boy has too much estrogen he will end up gay (look how gay men walk, their voice, their womanly emotions) and if a baby girl has too much testosterone she will end up butchy lesbian type (why they want short hair, no makeup, rugged look). It is a "birth defect" but not something to get picked on or killed over. You are born what you are. As for bisexuals they got an equal dose of both so they have feminine characteristics but also have manly feelings towards women as well. If you are straight you got the right amount of what you needed. It is not a choice. Why lie to yourself and be with what you are NOT attracted to just to make other people happy? I know I wouldn't!

Just before I have a drink, I'll direct you to the answers to the million other times this question has been asked, which confirm that gay people are born gay, just like straight people are born straight.
Cheers!

I think it is too complex to say whether it is purely genetic or by choice. There are so many psychological, environmental, social, and genetic connections that make up a person's sexuality throughout their lives. It's developed like all sexuality is. But it's impossible to place sexuality into one category or the other. I know for a fact that it is not by choice for me. I didn't choose to be attracted to females, but I am.

I believe that no one is born gay, so I believe that its a choice. So yes I feel that when they are younger--lots say that "I was born this way!" I feel when they are younger they are actually unconsciously choosing between woman or man, girl or boy and that they are so young and its so unconscious that they really don't see them selves as choosing when they really are.

It has never been scientifically proven one way or the
other, but there are indications that people do make
choices. This is seen when straight people become
incarcerated, often many convert to homosexual
activities by choice. There are stories of raped victims
becoming homosexual>

i don't think one has a choice as to whether or not they are born with the desire to date same sex. one does have a choice to act upon the gay lifestyle. why suppress what or who you are. sex is a terrific act between two partners. denying oneself this pleasure goes against the laws of nature.
man is naturally sexual.
