Is it true that as a student in a public school can bring laptops to class and can be on them during class?
I go to public school in Connecticut and just heard that you can actually bring a laptop to class and do work on it during class and theres nothing they can do about it. Is this true?

Not sure what the general policy is but my son actually qualifies to use a laptop as part of his education plan (504). In elementary and middle school, he was able to use either an AlphaSmart (school provided) or a laptop (which we would have to provide).

I would check with the school system to find out exactly what they allow/disallow. I'm sure that if they are allowed, they will have some restrictions on them (i.e. not used on test - hidden "cheat file", no games - during school, etc...).

You would have to check with your school. Every school has different policies. At my school, to my knowledge, nobody has ever tried to bring a laptop. It isn't needed. However, I would discourage my students from bringing something so expensive to school. You never know what could happen to it. It could get knocked off your desk, dropped in the hallway, or someone could take it. Just think twice before you decide to take a laptop to school with you...do you REALLY need it there?

I doubt it.I go to a public school, laptops are not allowed but certain kids that take some classes that need laptops bring their laptops to school for that class.

No. this is definitely not true. i may be living in a different country but as much as education is concerned, this can not be true because the school will prohibit you from bringing a laptop because:
a- it will get stolen
b- if it gets stolen, the school would clarify that they are not responsible for your belongings.
it's pretty much like the cellphone use rule..you simply can't use it in class.

Yes! The town I live in has a set of laptops for its grades 3-5 school and another set for its 6-8 school. We use them a lot.

Yes many public schools in most state are allowing laptops in the class so just ask your counsoler if you could.

well...it depends on the teacher and what you are doing on the computer during class.
if you are doing work on it and the teacher doesn't say anything about then i'd say that its ok however, if you get yelled at for using it during class (even if your doing work) then its probably not a very good idea.

i have no idea. i would say that depends on your school, so you should ask (not a student, but someone in charge) at your actual school about it.
