On a more mundane level, there are several supply and demand curves which are recently (in terms of decades) now turning straight up, an indication of a possible convergence of several "tipping points" in the same time frame. Drs. Strauss and Howe's "The Fourth Turning" is an excellent forecast re this cycle in American life.
