Don't the dems believe in any traditional americana? It was from the recent Rasmousons (sp?) poll...I don't have a link, I was listening to it being quoted on the radio today.

My personal experience leads me to say that a higher percentage of Democrats are offended by the idea of religion, and/or think that religious people are stupid and misguided.

Read some of the posts on this site for evidence of that phenomenon!

Its the more inclusive option.
It has nothing to do with someone having a problem with Christmas, it has to do with including people that arent Christians.

Happy Holidays also encompasses the entire season, its wishing someone happiness from Thanksgiving all the way to New Years, instead of the just on a single day.

As for traditional American values, the country was specifically intended to change over time. We dont have an official language for a reason. By being inclusive, the Democrats (in this case) are upholding the American values to a level that you obviously dont even comprehend.

I dont see why this is even worth getting into a fuss about. If you dont like Merry Christmas, then dont say it. No one is forcing you. If you dont like Happy Holidays then say the other (unless your work prefers the inclusive option). Its not like saying Happy Holidays is somehow underming Jesus or something. Its just wishing someone Happy Holidays of all varities.

Secular-Progressives, Marxists, and Communists are more at home in the Democratic Party than the Republican Party.

The Dems are still rebelling against their parents, God, the police, history, nature and everyone and everything else that wants them to put aside childish ways of thinking and join the adult world.

I usually say Happy Holidays beginning around Thanksgiving until the New year and say Merry Christmas on or about Christmas only. Happy Holidays is a short, convenient way to wish someone a Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Not to mention other holidays during that time period. It's inclusive rather than exclusive. Please don't turn my sincere pleasant wishes into something negative.

Probably because there are more white Anglo-Saxon Christians who are Republicans. The Democratic party has a better mix of people from all races, religions and cultures, many of whom are, therefore, not Christian.
Most Americans today have forgotten that Christmas is a Christian holiday, not recognized by Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, or the millions of agnostics who think it's just a time to give people extravagant gifts. -RKO- 11/26/07

Merry effin' Xmas already!

I am a Democrat. Yeah, religion is needy and gross.
Well?

Its the glamour of unreligous holiday decorations, not a- or non-theism that has "ruined" the religous meaning of Christmas.

I prefer "Merry Christmas".

I won't get into the whole "paying it lip-service" issue except to say that compassion and tolerance were taught by Jesus. Why all the hatred and intolerance from right-wing
"Christians", then?

Walmart, a corporation owned by Christian conservatives, forbids their employees from saying "Christmas". They worship the Almight dollar, not Jesus Christ.

57% means that most Democrats prefer Merry Christmas.

But, I guess many Democrats recognize that there are people who celebrate other holidays besides Christmas and we like to include them in our good wishes. While the vast majority of Republicans just say "screw anyone who is different than me!"

I guess it means a smaller percentage of Democrats put their religion before their country.

I really don't care either way. Just as long as your spending your money like a good boy either way is fine.
