I just saw an article on this in the New York Times. Changes in Medicare or Medicaid Law "accidentally" had the effect of dramatically increasing the price of birth control pills. I will try to find the article link. Here it is.

Some insurance companies do cover certain brands of birth control. I have PhP and it covers the birth control Yazmin. You should call your insurance provider and ask them.
You could also:
-Go to planned parenthood or a free clinic. For years I got birth control for $10 a packet from Planned Parenthood
-Tell your doctor you have really heavy or painful periods and want to go on the pill... that may be considered a medical condition rather than just birth control. Your insurance company may only cover the pill if it is for a medical reason rather than a personal choice. Hey, it worked for a friend of mine.

Birth control pills are normally covered by insurance. I've never found an insurance which did not cover them. However, I'm from Illinois, and I think there is a law requiring insurance to cover them.
The cash price for BCPs do range. The cheapest are about $25 per month, and the most expensive are about $60 per month. The generic BCPs tend to hover between $25 and $30 per pack. The most expensive at $60 per month are Yaz and Yasmin.

Depends on the insurance company, I actually had an insurance company that would pay for an abortion, but would not cover birth control or infertility issues. Go figure.
I have blue cross at the moment and birth control is covered, but it also depends on what brand your prescribed. I understand your frustration.

I know they are expensive but mine is covered. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and it covers my Yaz. Call you insurance company and see if they cover any. If not, go to planned parenthood and get it. It's much cheaper from them!

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had a primary and secondy health insurance but neither covered the birth control pills.
Except mine weren't expensive. They were like... 25 dollars. Definitely cheaper than having a child, that's for sure.
But I dunno... you should probably talk to your health insurance and ask why they won't cover it.

Not sure why. I get mine from planned parenthood. That way I only pay 15 per month.
