The LCS used to be a 5 game series. It was most dissatisfying, however, and finally became a 7 game set. The divisional series was introduced and as a 5 game set because the season would run too long, they said, if it were 7. It doesn't seem that those extra 2 games would be that detrimental to the post season. But if you agree that it would make the post season too long, shouldn't the LCS be the 5 game series since the wild cards are in the divisional series? It seems that they fare very well in the 5 game set, which is less decisive as to who is the better team. So -- should the LCS be made into a 5 game set, or should all the serieses be made into 7? What is your take on the post season?

I believe the playoffs should be magical, which means 7 game sets which gives every team a chance to make a baseball history comeback.

I think they should shorten the season and make the first round a 7 game series. Why? because the season is way too long and by the time the playoffs start the 1st round could be over in 3 games. It is so hard to make the post season because there are only 8 spots in the entire league, all other sports have at least 16 teams that qualify.

Given all the extra days built into the 2007 postseason, mainly at the behest of Fox, it would be simple to add two (potential) games to the Division Series, absorb two off days elsewhere, and still have everything end by 01-November.

Which, if there is a plan behind it (and knowing Seligula and Fox, probably not), might be why all those off days were put in. But a 7-game Division Series isn't likely to happen before the next CBA is negotiated, for 2012.

I agree that they should be extended to 7 games; to me it makes no sense to have unequal series. Make every round equal, it gives teams no advantage to get through the first round on a short staff to only get obliterated in the second round because they had to expand their pitching staff. A seven game series is fair to all involved, if you are already playing seven games in all the other series after playing 162 games then it would not be that big of a bother to get two more games in the postseason. I am surprised that baseball is not more into this idea, imagine the EXTRA revenue they could make! Although then you would have people listening to Boras' idea to make the series a nine game series!

I think part of the great atmosphere of baseball is the 7 game series, and boras isnt crazy with 9 for world seiries, it gives you better ratings, more notice, and a better series, but for now, i think 7 games each would be nice, because then no team can have an excuse for losing in a shorter series.

It needs to be the best of 7. The best of 5 is a crap shoot and weaker teams squeek by better ones. The Yankees are the biggest victim of this faulty playoff system. Given a 7 game format they would have advanced more times than not where they were previously eliminated.

They should shorten the season, and add a couple more teams in. Why can't there be 3 division winners and 3 WC winners? More teams in would make it more interesting, and would make for surprises for WS. The way it is right now, it is the same teams in all the time, and you see teams fall one game short of making it to the post season. More teams in makes it more competative. You coud see more upsets.

I like gosox's idea too...shorten the season but make all playoff rounds 7 games.

I wouldn't mind it but it'd extend an already long baseball season well into November then you hit the trouble of bad weather.
