I knew of a guy from Maine who, in his 80s , was planning on running a marathon (just a goal). He'd jog at least 8 miles a day in a single run. He took up running in his early 50s because he had a real problem with alcohol and running somehow helped him overcome his problem. I have known other people who are exercise orientated. They just feel better for doing it. Exercise does make you feel better.
But hiding something, I never heard of that. That doesn't mean it might not be the situation. Sometimes the best way to find out about a person is just to ask and listen.

No Craig. I'd say, send him my way, I'll get him to talk and find out for you. LOL Maybe he just does this as a hobby. I used to and only stopped because my knees got bad. But not from the exercise. I sure didn't have anything to hide. I just liked being in shape, feeling healthy, and adding years to my life. I am 65 now and next week I am heading back to the gym. I had a knee replacement 7 weeks ago. Anyway dear, why do you even care what he does? Is he your Dad?

Well, either they've been up to no good, or have had a very guilty secret for over 40 years, or maybe they just enjoy keeping fit?!
It could be that he's afraid of dying young?!
It could be that you are a bit of a detective-type of person, always looking for the mystery, even when there isn't one to be found?!
If you're really curious, and maybe a bit suicidal, you could ask him?!
On second thoughts, forget that idea, it could turn nasty!
I hope this helps!

you may drop extra pounds in maximum situations, yet there is not any thank you to assure how your physique will lose it. You drop extra pounds via ingesting fewer energy than you utilize in an afternoon. So, in case you decrease your intake right down to approximately 1200-1500 energy an afternoon (relies upon on age, intercourse, pastime point, genes, and so forth) you may desire to have the capability to drop extra pounds devoid of increasing your pastime. you're in basic terms as probable to lose muscle tissues as you're fat mass, nevertheless, so including some form of exercising in spite of if it is in undemanding terms strolling for 20 minutes an afternoon is right.

This is probably not so much an obsession with fitness as it is a way of achieving peace. Physical exercise releases one of the brain tonins (seratonin?) that provides a sense of well-being.
Southern Comfort said the word I was looking for -- endorphins.

It's wonderful that your dad keeps in shape, and it sounds as if he's enjoying exercising. I don't think he's hiding anything, it just makes him feel good about himself. Whatever habits, good or bad we get into in life, we often continue them. Many folks as they age cannot exercise anymore, my mom had 2 knees and a hip replaced and it's hard for her to even walk. I've always enjoyed exercise, but have gotten away from it lately, maybe hearing of your father will get me motivated again. Thanks!

Perhaps it's his way of "focusing" on his inner issues that he may never share with the world. If he isn't hitting anyone else, then what's the worry? Leave him to have his harmless fun. I doubt he does it for approval...just solice. Like a meditation of sorts. Staying busy often keeps the flies off!
Look at what it has done for Jack LaLanne! He's a happy guy!

Why should someone who exercises be hiding something? Have you considered the idea he might just want to remain as healthy as possible as long as possible? Why is the fact that he is health conscious so troubling to you? perhaps there is something you should consider in yourself that causes you to disapprove of your father being healthy.

Folk who have been in the habit of exercise usually continue to do so despite age and because of it too. Also exercise can pump adrenaline which can become somewhat addictive to many :-)
