does a woman's body produce the egg white stretchy mucous before ovulation or during ovulation? i had a little of it today, and this is actually the first time iv'e noticed it (maybe because now i'm ttc). does this mean that ovulation is on it's way, or am i already ovulating? thanks to anyone who answers.

ok... so last night, this mucous was not present. my hubby and i had sex last night, and then he left early this morning to start his work week out of town. so having sex this week is not an option. could last night's sex still leave me with a chance of becoming pregnant? i know the possibility is always there. i guess my question is, do you think i missed my fertile period again?

It likely means it is on it's way.

Some women have very little EWCM, some have none, some have plenty of it. It happens before and during ovulation. It's what keeps those sperm alive while they're waiting on the egg.

I typically have 6 days of it before ovulation.

Just know that if you see it, you should be having intercourse at least every other day! It means you're in your fertile period.

Best of luck!

EWCM is produced in the days leading up to ovulation. Typically the last day you see EWCM is the day the egg was released. After the egg is released the cervical mucus begins to dry up within a few hours. Most women see EWCM for 2-4 days. As long as you have EWCM then the sperm can survive in it and swim through it into the cervix.

It means you are ovulating presently when your cervical mucus is similar to egg whites, not that its eminent or over. It also means your cervix has the best mucus for sperm to move through as well - and you're fertile presently.
