Yes they do offer samples. I love mineral makeup, especially Jane Iredale. It covers like a liquid but is in powder form and doesn't make the mess Bare Minerals make. Good luck. 2D

Depends on skin tone, texture and type. I vary between YSL Perfect Touch Foundation and a British one called Urban Retreat. Department stores usually have specialists on the counters, who will try it out on you to see if it suits. There is also no harm in asking for a free sample!

This depends on your skin tone and type. Be careful just because it looks pretty on someone else it may not be good for you. They should be able to give you complimentary facial and allow you to try it on. Then you could go home a see how it affects your skin as far as allergies or anything else. I never had any allergic reaction to Shiseido,Estee Lauder,Lancome,Mac,La Borghese.........you can get a free consultation and sample from them.I buy fromthe brand that matches better my color skin.
I recently purchase from Mac,very helpful and instructive.

all counters offer free samples.. just ask!
if you have sensitive skin (which i am assuming since you are worried about possibly being allergic) try clinique. it is better than even the expensive brands,
