In my opinion , the answer is different from 5/4

3 1/3 : 16 1/6 =

3 1/3 =10/3
16 1/6=97/6

10/3: 97/6 =10/3*6/97 =20/97

(2/2), (3/3), and (6/6) are all equal to one. multiplication by those fractions will not change the value. It is only done to find a common denominator.

3 and 1/3 = 3 * (3/3) + 1/3 = 9/3 + 1/3 = 10/3

10/3 * (2/2) = 20/6

16 and 1/6 = 16 * (6/6) + 1/6 = 96/6 + 1/6 = 97/6

The answer is (20/6) / (97/6)

Cancel out both denominators

the answer is 20/97

A ratio is simply a division problem. Change these mixed numbers to improper fractions and divide:

10/3 / 97/6, flip and multiply

= 10/3 * 6/97, reduce

= 10 * 2/97

= 20/97

There is no way the answer can be 5/4.

hope this helps.

(3+1/3) / (16+1/6)

=(10/3)/(97/6)

=10/3*(6/97)
