You KNOW you had the Best Answer but for some reason that is just unexplainable you didn't get the 10 points?!?
Or, if you have answered a simple question like "what is your favorite color?" and you answer "blue" and then you get, like, a million thumbs down. Why? Why do you get a thumbs down just for saying what your own opinion is, I wonder? How can it be wrong if it is what you actually like and choose for your favorite color?
P.S. NONE of this has ever happened to me (yeah right) this is purely just for the sake of RESEARCH. :)

Wow, great and interesting answers, thanks! I actually would like to clarify, I don't HATE when I get thumbs down. It is even amusing sometimes to see them stack up. I am not even sure if I hate it when I don't get Best Answer (but I don't love it either). But I am sometimes CONFUSED by the thumbs down, cos, really, sometimes it just makes NO sense. By the way, I give you all a thumbs up cos I appreciate your ideas. ♥

It doesn't bothered me. I've answered about 70 questions and not yet have I received a "BEST ANSWER", which is fine..There are tons of other people on Yahoo! Answers...Guess I'll have to wait for the first one! hehehe.

Since this is a public forum, and everyone gets a chance to voice their opinion with a thumbs up/down, that will happen. Unfortunately, a lot of people look at this like a competition and think that they can increase their own importance by "thumb-downing" another person. I do use the thumbs down, but only when I know the answer given is factually incorrect and/or insulting to the person reading it. In many cases I expect to get some thumbs down, because a lot of people will not agree with me. But I enjoy being able to add something to the forum and occasionally help someone.

Not getting best answer doesn't bug me because it's purely an opinion. I believe there are people who just go through giving thumbs down to everything that they can. There's mean, crazy people everywhere.

i think you get a thumbs down when you voice your opinion on stuff like your favorite color because if you were to say blue and someone loves red or yellow or something just because they don't like blue they give you a thumbs down

each individual has their opinion and reasons for doing something. most likely scenario: the people who gave the thumbs down are on the other side of the world from you and are probably just clicking aimlessly in a country you may not even know exists.

I know what you mean...at first my answers were very personalized and had my insight in them but after I notice that people don't really care I just started answering whatever is in my mind without researching more and well got some good points.

LOL i've been thinking about that too....why do ppl thumbs down your answer when it's accurate polite and within "community guildlines"?
and of course we all think we gave the best answer but that is in the eye of the questioner isnt it?

Sometimes a question gets deleted and your answer goes with it, plus the points. It happened to me yesterday - my answer went the way of all flesh. Thumbs downs don't count -they don't affect your points, so who cares about them?????????

I ESPECIALLY hate it when I've given a thoughful question. On the simple questions, they're just the fools and trolls (same thing) Do. Not. Feed. The. Trolls. Peace. Purr
