That's ridiculous! My doctor (along with many other professionals) have told me that it is ridiculous to start training them before the age of 2! And most kids are not completely potty trained until they are three. It is a natural process and shouldn't be forced. Maybe you can start introducing the potty. You can buy one and let him get an idea of what it is but don't expect him to be potty trained by the end of the year! Give it time...he has the rest of his life to use the bathroom.

If he consistently does stinky at the same time during the day, put him on the potty at those times. I started doing this with my daughter at around 7-8 months and she is an old pro at 15 months doing stinky on the potty. Don't push the point if he doesn't seem ready. Make it lots of fun and if he does go then praise him a lot! Don't expect much success with urinating on the toilet yet. At this age he isn't really ready to be able to hold his urine. It takes a long time to potty train and a lot of patience. Good luck!

3 rules:
1) They can understand simple instructions. (go get this etc...)
2) they can talk enough to let you know when....Very improtant
3) they can sleep through the night without waking up with a wet diaper.
Some people say that you can start before these things occur but you usually end up frustrating your child and making it harder to potty train them

I agree with both of the answers above me!! It is extremely important not to frustrate your child!! This is supposed to be a good time... Just to prepare him, you can start taking him with you when you go...and just telling him what you are doing ... then asking him later, do you want to potty?...that sort of thing...but NEVER use pressure...and let him kind of lead you to the time when he is ready... good luck!!!
