There have been many kings whose preferences were more for men/boys.
Alexander the Great, many of the Caesars of the Roman Empire (including Nero), King James I of England for examples. They also had wives and mistresses so they could have sons to inherit their thrones.
Because a king (and his kingdom) believed he was divinely appointed to the throne, his sexuality was not an issue, as long as he provided legal heirs. And outside of his court, his choice of bed partners was not usually public knowledge.
In today's instant knowledge media circus, however, a gay king may find it more difficult to stay in the closet and retain his throne. Few countries now believe in the divine right of kings to do what they choose.

There have been many in the past. You can take this website with a grain of salt, but it's a list.
