I am 30 and been thinking for years about trying out snowboarding. Was thinking that this year is the year , but not sure how hard it is to snowboard. I 'm 6'3 with big feet ! LOL. know it is all about balance, but thinking is it worth the money and time to try it ? I skied once many , many , many years too once lesson and that was it , my ex at the time did not let us stay to go on the slopes , so never really tired that part . I was pretty decent on the ski's we'll for the hour we were one them. So snowboarding worth the money and time ?

I learned to snowboard when I was 35 and I really love it - I go at least 15 times every winter (only live 20 miles from nearest resort).

I know several people that have learned in their 30's and really love snowboarding. I found snowboarding to be easier to learn (only the first one or two days were hard) where as skiing was very hard on my knees for the first 10 times when learning.

Snowboarding takes a long time to really master which is great. I think that I have improved for the last 7 seasons of snowboarding and still love it. Skiing got boring after a few seasons.

If you love to do things which require a lot of skill and attention, you will like snowboarding and you will enjoy getting better every time you go.

Good Luck

I would suggest you rent the first couple of times to see if you're going to like it or not. Not sure though if you will be able to rent a wide board, and if you have big feet, you need a wider board so your toes don't hang off the ends and drag (bad). Snowboarding is far less expensive than skiing. And yes, it is worth the money involved. It is a blast once you get past the falling down part. And if you did okay on the skis don't expect the same result the first time on a snowboard, unless you have very good balance from surfing, skateboarding, or similar balance required sport. I highly recommend you take at least one lesson.

Some recommended gear:
wrist guards (most common injury is a broken wrist)
helmet (2nd most common injury is a head injury)
knee pads (wear them under your pants, trust me, you need them)
impact shorts (broken tail bone also happens fairly often)

Don't let the list scare you. I started snowboarding @ 38 years old with zero previous sports experience. It was really hard for me to learn, but I am now a decent snowboarder, I've been told more than once, a good snowboarder. And do I regret learning? No way, I'm so glad I did it. Great exercise, and so much fun you'll have a hard time not being obsessed with snowboarding.

Snowboarding is well worth the money and time, because you'll have a blast doing it. I'm 27 and just learned last year after having never tried skiing. It's pretty tough the first few days, so I recommend lessons to start with. Most places offer a lesson package where you get three lessons for around $100. Also, You might get different opinions on this, but to me it makes a lot more sense to rent equipment before you buy.

It is totally worth it! I skied for 12 years before switching to snowboarding - it is so much more fun. Make sure that you get some lessons: it is much harder to get started on a snowboard (compared to skiing). Plan on about three days on the snow before you start feeling comfortable.

i recommend getting a lesson. a private lesson could be proper. i'm 16 and that i have been snowboarding 5 circumstances and that i tried snowboarding in a taster classification which wasn't that enormous because there changed into countless folk who realized at diverse speeds and also you probably did not get a lot one on one with the instructor. I did get exhilaration from it regardless of the reality that.I went decrease back back the subsequent vacation to target back yet were given a private lesson with 2 different kinfolk. significantly better! before each little thing you'll likely be on your *** all day yet actually everyone sounds like that researching. the biggest element to bear in concepts is to no longer fall on your wrists. i could recommend you position on wrist guards. and also you should make confident your trousers are not tight. I wore snowboarding pants and ripped them reason they were stretched a lot. also you should placed on darkish pants so that they don't teach moist patches from sitting contained in the snow all day. you'll almost surely start up on the toddler slopes. you gained't even go on a strengthen for the first hour or so. make confident you position on a helmet as you're a newbie (even if it would not harm to placed on one each of the time) and make confident you position on glasses or goggles to guard your eyes. I hit my head basically above my eyebrow with the snowboard - very painful. Take your time, make confident you comprehend what you're doing earlier you go onto the further sturdy slopes. you should probable take care of to target a pink slope by the proper of your vacation. yet another significant element isn't to push your self too puzzling on the first day. i changed into very sore the day after snowboarding both circumstances. basically get your self decrease back up the mountain and take it basic. snowboarding is truly interesting yet will be truly puzzling to %. up. Have staying power and luxuriate in!!!
