Next Monday, 03-Dec, the Hall Of Fame will announce the results of the upcoming Veterans Committee Executives ballot. This is the other of the first two ballots under the newly revised VC, which the Hall announced in July following the third straight shutout by the old VC in February. This ballot is limited to ten candidates. As many of these names may be unfamiliar, their primary role is indicated:

Executives
Buzzie Bavasi (Dodgers GM, 1950-68)
Barney Dreyfuss (Pirates owner, 1900-32)
John Fetzer (Tigers owner, 1961-83)
Bob Howsam (Reds GM, 1967-78 & '83-84)
Ewing Kauffman (Royals owner, 1969-93)
Bowie Kuhn (Commissioner of Baseball, 1968-84)
John McHale (Braves GM 1959-66, Expos GM 1978-84, Expos president 1969-84)
Marvin Miller (director of the players union, 1966-84)
Walter O'Malley (Dodgers owner, 1950-late 70s)
Gabe Paul (Reds GM 1951-60, Indians GM 1961-69 & '71-72, Yankees GM/president 1973-78)

Please limit yourself to no more than four votes, just like the real electors.

Miller.
That's it. Too many executives, owners, and commissioners get in as the "gold watch" for hanging around.
I really can't see any of these other guys as worthy.

1. O'MALLEY - After trying to keep his Dodgers in Brooklyn, he took a chance (and a great land swap) and brought the Dodgers to the West Coast and he convinced the Giants to go west as well. The game of baseball should recognize what a bold move this was. The game truly became the "National Pastime".

2. KUHN - He has his detractors but he kept baseball viable during some turbulent times. Hard choice here but he's deserving.

I'm on the fence regarding Marvin Miller and Ewing Kauffman but if I'm forced to choose 4 inductees, then I'd vote these two.

GREAT QUESTION!!!

Kuhn, all commissioners that had a long term should be in the hall. Usually that means they didn't screw up and get fired.

Can't really get behind owners or GMs because I just don't see anyone on that list that really stands out. Sure there are plenty that had great teams but I think alot of them are only great because of what they were able to souround themselves with. Someone like Howsam for instance didn't gather all the pieces himself to his teams.

Someone that I wouldn't vote for but could definately see the Vet Committee putting in is Marvin Miller, the VC is made up of alot of players (believe that it is everyone in the hall now and not just a panel of nine) and the majority of those that are living owe something to Miller.

First Marvin Miller; he did more for the game thna anyone else on that list

Then Kuhn; a solid commissioner that saw the league through tough issues!

Then O'Malley; a great owner for a long time!

Lastly I would go with Kaufmann, his selling the team corrolates with the end of the good teams in KC, not a coincidence!
