Fresh, unpolluted air.

No scent works as well as pure air. The scents that work are masking unpleasant background stench.

The smell of chloroform while unpleasant, will relax you. To the point of incontinence.

the ultimate relaxing scent will vary from person to person. Aromatherapists point out that a person's own memories and associations with an aroma can have a positive or negative effect. If a despised teacher always smelled of lavender, you may find the scent unappealing. So you might start with your personal favorite scents when looking for a relaxing aroma.

Bath and Body Works makes a new aromatherapy sleep scent, Vanilla Chamomile...it's nice!
They also have some Aromatherapy products especially for relaxing, Tranquil Mint and Eucalyptus Spearmint.

Relaxation is the most desired benefit of aromatherapy. People crave respite from the stresses that fill our daily lives. Unfortunately, the world keeps piling on the anxiety while pulling us further away from what grounds and balances us. Aromatherapy is a way to reward ourselves simply and effectively with fragrant, natural substances that nourish mind, body and spirit.
Relaxing, Soothing
Essential oils that help us achieve a state of relaxation include: chamomile, benzoin, bergamot, cedarwood, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, lavender, neroli, patchouli, rose, sandalwood and ylang ylang. To select the oils that produce the response in you want, smell each one individually and notice the physical and emotional responses it evokes. Try using the oils that resonate with you in the following aromatherapy applications.
