An ultrasound technician is actually called a diagnostic medical sonographer. A radiologist is a doctor. A radiologic technologist is an x-ray tech. Salary varies a lot by state. Here is the latest salary survey by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists: http://www.asrt.org/media/pdf/research/wss2007/wss07annualcompensation.pdf

I see from a previous question of yours that you are from Florida. The average for a rad tech in FL is $46,000-$51,000 and for a sonographer is $59,000-$61,000.

By the way, just to correct the other answerer, the average hours per year is 2080, not 2000.

I looked in the Occupational Outlook Handbook. (OOH) There's no listing for an ultrasound technician - the closest match might be a diagnostic medical sonographer.

The OOH doesn't give hourly pay, but does give the annual average salary. You might divide the annual salary by 2000 to get an idea of the basic hourly wage (2000 is the # of hours in a year that many people spend on the job)

Here's the listing for a Radiologic Technologist and technician (from the OOH)
