Well the first and best thing we can do is get rid of old Grand-mole out of Lansing. The second thing would be get rid of the UAW, and get it back to 8 hours work for 8 hours pay. Then maybe we can get competitive again. Third make our legislature to be a part time. They don't need to be in public office a whole year when they take so many breaks that it might as well be part time.

Buy American, support American Manufacturers and American Products in this way you also support freedom. When you buy Chinese and most of what Walmart stocks, you support communism and a country that ignores human rights, animal rights, clean air acts, decent living wages, or buying Indian often means you are supporting child slave labour. That few dollars off in the big box stores equals the manufacturer in the States going out of business, shop the small guy again and U.S. labels. If you can't get the politicians to do anything, it has to start with the individual at a smaller level. If everyone did it, the investments would come back to the States. Us buying out of country products means the money goes overseas. If you pay a bit more for American, perhaps the taxes could be lowered, in turn put higher taxes on imported goods, services and products. If everyone did it, things would turn around.

Wow that's a great question and the answer is no doubt to complex for me....I would say I am for the people but most people are for themselves. Yes our forefathers would probably be very disappointed at the state of affairs we are in............. but it isn't just one person who got us there it has been piling up for years and we have become a selfish material driven society.
Michigan with high wages for people in the car industry who for years put out inferior products...defective careless workmanship/design drove masses to Japanese cars for reliable transportation...and Detroit didn't get it until it was to late....talk about stubborn !!!!!!!!
My own experience was a particular problem in my family which ended when my mother and I had this interchange....about American/Japanese cars. She said " American cars properly serviced ae just as good as Japanese cars"...My retort was "Perhaps you are right but being a single mother and sole provider for my 4 children (US courts did not go after fathers much then) I don't have the time to take off work or the money to service my Toyota properly and it still keeps running"........not so with my American cars before it.
Just one example in the big scheme of things that adds to our downfall. I now am in a position that I do buy American every chance I can as we are making other countries Super Powers by buying everything there. I was drinking apple juice recently and noticed on the bottle ....Product of China. Can't we grow enough Apples here. What gives. All these things multiply until we are buried by our own want and we will loose all to the third world countries because of our greed and want.....
Can we change and how do we....???? I do not know. Huge reform...Change in thinking and it needs to start in the crib with the new generation....recycle, reuse, fix, conserve, preserve, limit, be satisified, be grateful, our wants are ridculious....our hero are sports figures and Hollywood stars...not doctors and scientists....how shallow is that....Has any crowd ever stood and cheered when a doctor has saved a life....or blown their car horn for 10 blocks trhough a city when a scientist found a life saving drug. Our priorties are so messed up that until we get those in order everthing else will be crap....
Guess I didn't answer your question....Sorry
PS I am still driving that Toyota by the way and the kids are grown....

I live in that shithole you speak of..... i am so tempted to move....
I think moving is what ppl could do to improve the economy in Michigan.....
I have been offered a job out of state....but my family lives here and they do not want to move....it makes it hard to leave.
But realistically what can one do? not much, when you're broke.
