Because fascist leaders use hate and fear to control people. Illegal Mexicans are simply being scapegoated. This is an issue Rove cooked up. It's backfired, because the Bush administration has failed to do anything about this "problem."
As another person on this site once asked--how can illegals be taking all our jobs away, when they're supposed to be bums who don't work?
We don't want those foreign rapists around? Why? Less competition for the native ones?
Hell, if I'm gonna get raped and have my body torn to pieces it damn well better be a Mercan.
And I don't want none a them creepy feren peediofiles on my kids, dagblamit, neither.
Save Merca for the Mercan preeverts!
We don't want the filthy money they spend in our stores?
We don't want them to pick our strawberries and other truck crops in the hot sun? Why? Are we going to do it?
In actuality, California farmers are moving their operations to Mexico. That's great. We're giving up control of the food supply to a foreign country.
You want to clean bathrooms for the minimum wage?
And God forbid any of us should be forced to speak any foreign language. Most Americans nowadays can barely handle English.
P.S.: Love the reasoning. Illegal immigrants are a problem because they're illegal. Like marijuana. Don't do that stuff. Why? Because it's bad. Why's it bad? Because it's illegal.
So line up all them ferners who have jobs and haven't broken any laws, and issue them green cards. Then get over it. We've got better things to worry about.
And please don't tell me about the waste of resources it would take to do that. Nobody is as good at wasting taxpayer dime as the Border Patrol.
PPS: You're not entitled to any rights in a country that isn't your own????
Actually, you are.

I think there needs to be respect for the rule of law, no matter what those laws are. Only in the most extreme cases is disobeying the law justified.
Use the proper channels. We cannot be complacent about the violation of U.S. law. It's not about racism and homophobia, although that does motivate many persons who don't like immigration at all.

I don't think it is just an issue for republicans... or even white people. I know several black democratic friends at my place of work. They all oppose the idea of illegal immigrantion.
Think of it this way. For every dollar they pay into taxes, the U.S. spends $3 dollars in social programs for these people including free health care, free education, and boarder security and enforcement... just to name a few.

Well it benefits companies by increasing their profit by paying them less salary and benefits, so it must be a good thing.
Its killing Unions, by companies by not hiring American Union members, so that must be a good thing.
Which everyone knows how unions are the reason for companies moving over seas.
and uuh and uhhh and uhhh gotta protect against the mexiacan terrorists!
"..and that's all I really gotta say about that."

WHOOPSIE forgot about the guest worker program!
In reality though, I think they take the jobs that are more appropriate for Republicans forcing them to seek out a living in talk-radio and politics.

What part of illegal doesn't make this an issue for everyone? I hate it because it disenfranchises the immigrants who do things the right way.

a majority of people are hysterical when they hear such news and do not bother to conduct research/fact gathering

OK, Here goes...I am not entitled to ANY rights in a country not my own. Why should they have rights in mine?...There now, I totally ignored the economic drain that they truly are.

I'm curious too. I've heard a lot of Republicans talk about free markets and allowing the market to adjust itself. If big business wants to hire them at low wages shouldn't they be allowed too? Isn't that how a free market works?
