OK i am about 6 weeks pregnant and i have been taking prenatal vitamins for almost 4 weeks now.. My stomach is very bloated and i am having trouble going to the bathroom! Is there anything i can take or do to help with this problem?? I am thinking that the reason why i look soo big right now is due to that and just water retention!! Thanks

I am almost 8 weeks along and had bad constipation due to the prenatal vitamins. I bought a box of All Bran with yogurt clusters and have been eating a bowl of that daily and that REALLY helped things along.

My Dr. let me take Flinstones vitamins instead of the prenatal vitamins & those worked just fine. The prenatal vitamins were too rough on me. You could make sure that you're drinking plenty of water. Also, eat several times a day instead of just once a day. There are some "natural" stool softners out there. I'd check with my OB before taking any stool softners though.

The vitamins usually have a bit of a stool softener in them, so it's likely not them that's the cause...

Constipation is VERY common in pregnancy. Your body requires more fluids to do its job - including creating the amniotic fluids to support your baby, your own increased needs due to a more active excretory system in pregnancy, etc.

Drink more water, have lots of fruit, walk more to get things going...it's normal. Annoying, but normal.

You need to start adding in fiber....and drink as much water as necessary. My doc told me to drink a bottle an hour (i know....excessivemuch) and i drink 6-8 bottles of water a day, and i eat triscuits or whole grain crackers...i am 5 months and have had no constipation issues.

More H20....More fiber...it'll work.

Also, to kick start it, eat about 3 prunes a day to help it get going. NOt too many though!

Eat more fiber and drink 4 oz. of prune juice. It's probably the iron supplement in the Pre-natal vitamins....it does that sometimes but you need the extra iron.

Get something like Benefill it will help with the constipation. If your stool is dark, it's probably because the prenatal vit. have more iron in them.

You need a new vitamin. I took Flintstones Complete. Ask your Dr. if they are ok for you. I didnt have that problem with them. Be careful, and good luck.

It's your hormones and your vitamins. You can take colace which is a stool softener. I take it every day. Some prenatals come with it, as mine does, and I still take colace. Lots of water, fiber and exercise!!!!!!

That could be a bad sign of your pregnancy, like a miscarriage hun.
Not that it is the Vitamins.
But you should go to the doctor soon about it as soon as possible to see what exactually is wrong.
