2x + 4y

Look at the first part of the equation. 7x-y. Another way to look at that is to "add the negative". Sounds lame, but
7x-y is the same as 7x+-y

Keep everything isolated, and it's a lot easier to get the bigger picture. I'll space it this way instead of using parenthesis so that you can see the "adding of the negatives".So...

7x + -y + -5x + 5y

Now it's one big addition problem, and you can mix it up!

Also, as a sidenote: whenever you have a variable by itself, you can put a 1 in front of it if it seems to help you with the math. Here's an example:
-y = -1y
y = 1y

Back the the problem: Get like kinds together:
(7x + -5x) + (-y + 5y).

Order of operations indicates that you do everything in parenthesis first:

7x + -5x = 2x
-y + 5y = 4y

So, simplified, your answer is:

2x+4y

Group like terms and simplify
7X-5X = 2X (7 apples - 5 apples = 2 apples)

-1Y + 5Y = 4Y

therefore:

2X + 4Y

to simplify even further
take out common factor:

2(X + 2Y)

the object of this is to combine like terms.... (7x - 5x)=2 x, (-y +5y)= 4y.... Remember that "-y" is understood as "-1y".... U should know how to add and subtract negative and positive numbers... the answer u should get is "2x+4y" or "4y+2x"

simplify the like terms,

7x-y-5x+5y

7x - 5x - y + 5y

2x + 4y

(7x-5x= 2x) (-y+5y= 4y)

2x+4y
or
2(x+2y)

simplify: 7x - y - 5x +5y = ?
action: 7x - 2x = (x x x x x x x) - (x x x x x) = x x ..........(1)
5y - y = (y y y y y ) - (y) = y y y y .....(2)
(1) + (2) x x + y y y y = (xy) +(xy)+(yy) = 3(2m,1f)...ans.
