I'm with Michael G on this one. I get my board waxed at the resort while I'm having lunch/dinner and it is fine to go when I go back out. I've never once had a problem or a mess on my hands by going out too soon. So wax, let it cool, and ride.

Um, Timmy R, that is wrong.
I have been boarding for about 6 years now and a get a hot wax every couple weeks up at the shop on my ski resort right before i ride.
It's fine right after its done, just make sure the wax is cooled down completely.

As soon as the wax has cooled, and been scraped properly. But unless you are waxing right at the top of the run this wont be a problem, because the wax cools very fast, and once it has been scraped properly it is almost always cooled to ambient temp. At that point your good to go.

i guess it depends on teh wax. hot wax should be let to cool of for about a day or so... that quick apply wax is fine right after you put it on

Until it reaches the ambient temperature outside. Hot board on cold snow = mess.
