You mean one semester? It depends on the school. My tuition is around $4,000, plus my on-campus apartment is $3,000, and the meal plan I purchase (which is the minimum required of all residential students) is about $1,200. My meal plan also includes $200 that I can spend at the ShopRite down the street. I usually have to tack on an additional $100 to cover all of my groceries for the semester -- but I also eat most of my meals in the dining hall, so if you eat out a lot or cook for yourself you'll be spending significantly more. I also go home on the weekends but don't really use my car during the week, so that's about $15-$20 per week in gas money. Whether you'd be spending more than that or running into other incidental expenses just depends on what you do for fun (going out = $$, watching TV = free) etc.

depends where you live:

apartment + utilities - $1000/a month
food - $400/a month
books (for a semester) $500 (depends on your major)
car,gas,insurance...etc - varies
entertainment - whatever you can afford

good luck
