If Fred Thompsons burned a flag 30 years ago it could hurt him. If Obama's wife was an alcoholic that might hurt. But we already know everything about Bill and he never really got hurt by it.

There are a lot of people out there who despise Bill Clinton, rightly or not. They don't want to see him, or his wife, back in the White House.
On the other hand, a lot of people still adore Bill Clinton, rightly or not. They would vote for Hillary, because they think it would be great to have Bill back in the White House.

I think candidates are very rarely hurt by their spouses. I think no matter the "sins" of the spouse, you're voting for a candidate not their wife/husband.
