Why dont the media tell us that? Is Murdoch controlling all media now? Is this country done? Why dont we hear world news anymore? Will Miami Dolphins win a game? What the hell is going on?

I'm guessing that the media "dont tell us that" because we're not paying attention. A report is released at about this time every year. I found the story at MSNBC, ABC, and several other websites.

The totals are not found in the article - but you can add the totals for each year, if you want. Search for "iraq army deserters 2007" to find several more articles with identical basic info (not as complete as ABC, though).
If you don't hear world news, do what I do - read articles on BBC and ABC news online every night. The news programs cover a lot of national stuff in which I am wholly uninterested. In 1/2 hour, I get all the news *I* want to see.
Dolphins *will* win a game - some day.
What is going on? Well, there's a war in Iraq, a bunch of goobers competing with each other so that *next* year they will be able to run for president (can't reports on this wait until *after* the primarys?), a war in Afghanistan, some cool stuff at the Space Station, and a mid-east peace conference in - did you guess Annapolis? Wouldn't it make sense to have it in the mid-east?

a) They're sick of being told all they talk about is bad news.
b) No, he still doesn't own NPR, Public Television, local access channels, CNN, or C-SPAN.
c) No, we've had bad times before (remember that whole civil war thing?)
d) Because advertisers pay more for football games than for news shows
e) Maybe. They play the Bengals later this season.
f) Christmas shopping season.
