My Chevy Cobalt 06 LT, (not LS like I thought) is supposed to play burned MP3 cds but everytime I try to burn a cd and play them, they don't work! Is there a specific cd or program I need to burn them correctly? Doesn't exactly describe it in the manual much, just that it DOES play MP3s. Oh and I don't mean just 12 songs, I mean the data method and you can have like 100 songs on 1 cd type deal with the song name scrolling and all that, just to clarify, thats what I think of when it says MP3s not just normal burned cds. Also this option is standard from what I've been seeing, looks like the original stock cd player, and no input jack so I have to use a CD or some gizmo to transfer from a device to radio station but I hate when it cuts in and out. Hope thats enough to clarify, thanks for the answers from my other question but I couldn't update that one.

First, there are 2 types of radios for the Cobalt. One plays MP3 and one doesn't. An MP3 radio will have 'MP3' on the face of the radio. In your owner's manual there are a lot of guidelines for playing MP3's. Like the playlists must have a .m3u or .wpl extension, other file extensions may not work and do not mix standard audio and MP3 files on one disc and be sure they are recorded on a CD-R disc. There are more but I am really not familiar with all that MP3 stuff and all the files and folders and...first look for the 'MP3' on the face of the radio.

Unless you get the upgraded sound package the stock CD player will not play MP3s. The dealership told me when I bought mine that it would, but they lied. If the stereo would play MP3's it would say MP3 compatible on the front of it somewhere.

Also the transmission in mine failed at 16,753 miles. I'll never buy another chevy.

EVEN THOUGH THE MANUAL STATES THAT IT WILL PLAY MP3 DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOURS WILL.

IF YOUR RADIO IS DESIGNED TO PLAY THEM AND WONT THEN EITHER THE (ECM) WILL NEED TO BE FLASHED OR THE UNIT IS BAD AND THE DEALER WILL DO THIS UNDER WARRANTY.

NOT ON YOUR VEHICLE BUT ON OTHER GM VEHICLES THAT I HAVE SEEN, THE OWNERS CHILDREN HAVE INSTALLED A NEWER TYPE RADIO THAT WAS STILL A GM MODEL AND THE (ECM) NEEDED TO BE FLASHED FOR IT TO WORK.

You are burning the disc using the data method and not the audio cd method, correct? I would first check that. Also, is the mp3 feature an option or standard?
