I THINK THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT THE SITUATION IS? THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT MAY BE BETTER LEFT UNSAID. BUT THERE ARE OTHER TIMES WHEN YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD!

Depends on the situation:
When do I complain 1) If a clerk makes an error on my receipt. 2) If someone cuts in front of me while in line. 3)When my daughters shrink my sweaters in the wash machine. 4) Too many doctors appointments.
When do I not complain: 1) Husband goes to soccer and golf twice in a week 2) When 6-7 people want to stay at our house.3) dogs can sleep in our bed. 4) If someone talks behind my back. 5) Talks smack 6) Lend anything out 7) Ask me sew something.

This is one of the hardest issues I grapple with. Most of the easy stuff has gone by the way-side by the time yo hit fifty.
Unless one is dealing with security issues, it should be relatively clear. If your toes, or sensitivities, are being stepped on, Yes. Raise a voice.
Sensitivities are those pesky little things our mommas said to us. Tip your hat to a lady. Say thank you. Stand when a lady enters, or leaves the room.
Don;'t stand with your hands in your pockets and allow one to abuse another. If it's fair, help it stay like that. No two on one.
Respect the women of the world. And the same goes for any smaller, weaker being. Children being first. Then thank your god-of-choice for your country, and guidance.
Simple stuff.
I pray for guidance so many times a day, I can only be grateful for the opportunity to speak up for myself, when I'm right. And giving me a nudge when it's time to shut the hell up!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
If you start here:
1. Is it true?
2. Does it add value?
3.Is it fair to all parties?
4.Does it need to be said?
Shakespeare said something like: "To thine ownself be true."

Complain when it will make a difference or it keeps you or someone you love from being hurt. By being hurt I am including financially and emotionally and physically.
If it's in the past and there is nothing anyone can do about it then you just sound like a nag.

ok i work as a social servises place and they are ALWAYS talking about their religion, " god this, god that", and they know i am Wiccan. They do it to irritate me. and I have let it slide, but when i get angry, or i feel that my rights have been violated, I complain. It depends on the situation,if I feel complaining will get the results I want, i do so, if not, then I , myself make a comment. ( and it isn't always nice, either).

I'd only complain if the offense is impeding on the law, my civil rights or just annoying the kaka out of me.
