My son is 6 months old this week and he does not have any teeth. He RARELY cries or whines but the last couple of days, maybe even almost a week, he gets very fussy at bedtime, cries in his sleep and wakes almost every hour crying and fussing. He gnaws on everything in sight all the time but his gums are not swollen, no white areas, no teeth peeking through. Is this a sign of teething, the constant fussing at nighttime only?

Could be. Our doc told us that they can go through all the symptoms of teething off and on, but have no bumps or anything for awhile.

Jonah's been doing that off and on since like 3 1/2 months old.

easily sounds like teething to me! i observed that with my youngsters, the 1st the teeth have been the toughest on them by using fact it replaced into the 1st time they felt that type of discomfort. They did the comparable issues your son is doing at around the comparable age ~4-5 months and have been given their first the teeth some month later. They like to chew down on arms (purely stable for the 1st the teeth!) and different teething toys. Frozen washcloths artwork too. i've got additionally tried Orajel and Homeopathic teething pills and can't tell in the event that they actually labored or no longer. the two toddlers ultimately labored by it and as quickly as the the teeth have been seen, they easily looked lots greater mushy. Be arranged although - they the teeth lots that first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days that they continuously appear like they are teething. It does get much less complicated although so carry in there!

A GREAT QUESTION INDEED!! My oldest son did not get his first tooth until he was 10 mos old, I was about to take him to a dentist and have x-rays to make sure there was teeth! Try an atopic teething gel if that helps it probably is teething if not then MAYBE he is having problems with his ears. When you lay him down to nap/sleep his ears could be draining causing irritation and fussiness. Either way good luck neither is very fun!!

Sounds like teething to me. You won't necessarily see anything, but if he's gnawing on things that's a good sign. It may be that it bothers him at night because he's tired and less resistant to pain. If he does seem to be in pain you might want to try giving him an infant painkiller like Calpol or Baby Nurofen.

And be careful when those teeth do come through; they're incredibly sharp!

it could be the start of it, it may take a few months for the gums to show any sign of a tooth coming through but they do start about your sons age. Try bonjela on the gums i found that helped with my daughter

It could be. Call ur pediatrician and explain to them the symptoms and then they can tell you what the problem is for sure and maybe even give you medicine or tips to sooth his pain. Good luck!

It sounds like it. You can try freezing melon or other fruits and putting them in a mesh cloth for him to chew/suck on before bedtime.
