The vets I know believe they were fighting for my right to peaceably oppose the war in Iraq.
It doesn't get in the way of our friendship.

It doesnt directly stop any fighting but with prolonged opposition the governemnt will soon pull troops out. At the moment we still need to show that we dont what to be there.

I have a close friend who's son is over there and he says it doesn't bother them because they have a job to do and that's what they're focused on. Most of them believe that whats going on over there is good for the people and they appreciate what they are doing for them. They understand that there's a strong liberal bias in the media and get very few positive stories from them about all the good they're doing over there.

this idea that protesting the war is somehow bad for the troops and america is itself a very unamerican notion and one advanced by those who really have no answers about the why's and how's of the war in iraq.
at this point, when i hear empty headed people saying that americans shouldn't speak their minds because that will somehow be good for us all - i just ignore it - live my life and feel and express what i want...

US soldiers are considered to be the brightest and best trained in the world.
With that in mind, it shouldn't bother them at all. They are professionals and professionals should be able to handle the criticism of their leaders.

It pisses us off but does not have that big of an affect overall. It has more of an affect on the enemy. It boosts the enemies moral and gives them ideal propaganda to air.
