What is "trailer trash"? Is it another word for working class people?

People that live in trailer parks have always been called this...but its more so like ppl that live in a trailor that are no good, trashy ppl, dont take care of themselves or their home. They are just considered low ppl. I live in a mobile home at the time, and Im FAR from trailer trash.*

Just watch Jerry Springer like the first person said. Basically anyone on that show is "trailer trash". It is NOT for the working class. Its for the welfare class, living in trailers, no teeth, impregnating their cousins with no class whatsoever. Not everyone who lives in a trailer is trailer trash. You just have to know.

The slang phrase "trailer trash" is not a description of working class Americans! Rather, the phrase is commonly used (in this Southern geographic region) to describe those of little or no working income who make no bona fide effort to find or otherwise keep gainful employment.

The phrase has its roots, I believe, in the fact that many of these individuals reside in single-wide trailers (mobile homes) because the rent expense is minimal and upkeep is not anticipated by the landlord to be maintained. These people are perceived as "trash" and thus the phrase is a reflection of their chosen lifestyle.

Make no mistake: Many hard-working Americans reside in single-wide trailers and that fact alone doesn't carry with it any connotation that these persons are "lesser people" in their character.

Trailer trash is a type of person who is generally a caucasian, crass, nasty individual. Usually swears a lot and most likely low income. The name is derived from people living in trailer parks who don't have any class.

Trailer Trash are the poor slobs that live in Mobile Home parks. The UFO's seem to only kidnap them, they are always drunk , no teeth, and fighting. Typically they are not working.

they are also usually dodging tornadoes as Tornadoes seem to mess up Trailer Parks on a daily basis.

A good example of "trailer trash" is a scene with an unmarried mother of many living with her out-of-work drunken redneck boyfriend who sponges off her meager "waitress" tips, IF she happens to have a job. The trailer is run down and has junk vehicles and trash strewn everywhere. They don't fit in outside their 12'x60' "society", Their address is usually well-known by the local police, who have to pay them a visit at least once a week for domestic violence and/or drugs, firing off weapons, etc...you get the picture ;)

Recreations include drinking malt liquor in lawn chairs under tattered R.V. awning and teenage pregnancy. Close synonymn for poor white trash. Can also be used as literal term for personal effects strewn by tornado when ripping though mobile home park.

The term is a pet peeve of mine. I live in an upscale mobile home park in a very nice "trailer". I have a good job, 2 college degrees and have never had a car on blocks in front of my house or any old tires on my roof.

I have all my teeth and have never dated a relative.

Trailor trash is a way of describing, poor people who live in trailor houses, who usually aren't too clean, who have junk all over their yard, and who are missing teeth and drinking lots of alcohol.

A mullet is a fine trailor trash hair do (I dig the doo though, it's hot).
