Don't remember who wore it, but there was a fabulously diamond or rhinestone covered cocktail dress worn by a celebrity a few years ago to the Oscars. Everyone was talking about it.

Angie's 26 .oo thrift store find , that she wore with shoes that she already had and has worn on the red carpet in the past..
i LOVE the statement it makes. esp since she underlines it with the fact that she donates so much of her time and money to charity.

I've always remembered Julia Robert's dress at the Oscars:

It's so simple and classy.
I also loved Jlo's dress in a movie I think she wore this one:

I also love Beyonce's dresses, especially this one:

Complicated question...
In the last years, I suppose Béyoncé's one is really beautiful...
http://i.thisislondon.co.uk/i/pix/2007/02/beyonce_243x391.jpg
By the way, althought the dress is essential, let's not forget that in general that's the person who's wearing it who gives it his elegance.
Even with a beggar dress or with a jail-dress, Béyoncé or Eva Mendes would look one thousand times more attractive than any common woman who's even wearing a diamond-made dress...
